Erik’s career has spanned over 26 years in the film and television industry.  His most notable credits include “Desperate Housewives”, where as an Art Director he  earned two Emmy nominations and an Art Director’s Guild Award nomination, “The Majestic”, “SIX”, “Manhunt: Unabomber”, “The Outpost” (2021 Critic’s Choice Nomination]. Most recently, Erik has extensive experience filming internationally on “Shadow Force” [filmed in Bogota & Cartagena, Colombia], "Not Without Hope" [filmed in Malta] and the World War 2 film "Lucky Strike" [filmed in Sofia, Bulgaria].
Throughout his career, Erik has had the opportunity to collaborate with many acclaimed film makers, including Christopher Nolan, Frank Darabont, Trey Parker, Marc Cherry, Dan Fogelman, Joe Carnahan , Rod Lurie, David Crane, , Bill Broyles and Greg Yaitanes, among many others. 
The Seattle native developed his passion for film as a child, and knew immediately that the world of design was his calling. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Environmental Design at the University of Colorado-Boulder, Erik began his professional career building log cabins in Crested Butte, Colorado. An offer brought him to Los Angeles where he earned his first television credit as an Art Director on Judd Apatow’s “Freaks & Geeks” and first feature film credit in the position on Christopher Nolan’s “Memento”. Over the past two decades, Erik has developed a specialty design niche for high concept, as well as stylized government agency, military and global location films.   Additional TV credits include:  Production Designer for Queens, Reprisal, Grandfathered, The Neighbors, State of Affairs  and Episodes..
Erik lives in Colorado with his wife, media consultant Erin Smith Carlson, and their dog, Steve Martin.
